Breast Ultrasound
All suspicious breast masses are biopsied for diagnosis. A biopsy removes tissue for study and helps detect cancer early when it is most curable. An alternative to the operating room, TEPAS Breast Center performs biopsies in-house with Mammotome®, a gentler breast biopsy. Experienced, highly qualified radiology technologists use ultrasound to accurately pinpoint suspicious areas so the doctor can see the needle on a screen as it moves toward and into the mass. The tissue is then gently, and painlessly, removed for further examination. This outpatient procedure lasts about 25 minutes and patients return to normal activity with only a small bandage — no stitches required.
